About Shannon Rizzo

Hi, I'm Shannon Rizzo, and I'm so glad you're here. I work with women and couples navigating the painful journey of infertility and loss, the kind of grief that often goes unspoken in our society. I understand how isolating this experience can feel because I've walked parts of this path myself. My commitment is to walk alongside you, offering compassionate support as you process your grief, rebuild your sense of self, and reconnect with hope.

Infertility and Loss Therapist

When I was young, I was first introduced to therapy after being exposed to mental health challenges within my family. Seeing how the right support could help someone heal and regain stability left a lasting impression on me and shaped my path toward becoming a therapist.

Years later, I faced my own struggles with infertility and loss. I experienced the isolation, the grief, and the feeling that my body had betrayed me. I sat in therapy myself, working through trauma, infertility, and marriage challenges. These experiences taught me that asking for help isn't weakness, it's courage.

This combination of professional expertise and lived experience shapes how I show up for my clients. I see your heart beneath the pain. I understand the weight of what you carry. If I can provide a path toward improved wellbeing and help you see transformation in your life, that work is deeply fulfilling to me.

Clinical Expertise And Personal Understanding For Your Fertility Journey

I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New Jersey. I've spent over 25 years working with children, families, and couples through some of life's most challenging moments. My specialized focus on infertility and loss sets me apart, as these topics have been marginalized in mainstream society across cultural, medical, and social narratives. I've dedicated my practice to addressing the shame, guilt, and isolation that surround fertility struggles and pregnancy loss. This specialized training combined with my personal experience allows me to offer both clinical expertise and genuine understanding to support your healing.

My Approach To Caring For Your Story

I use several evidence-based approaches in my work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you reframe difficult thoughts, Family Systems therapy to understand relationship patterns, Narrative therapy to help you rewrite your story, and mindfulness practices to ground you during overwhelming moments. I also draw on grief counseling, couples therapy techniques, and psychoeducation to give you practical tools and understanding.

I believe healing doesn't come from being told what to do. My approach is about being deeply seen, gently guided, and given tools to access your inner wisdom. I'm not here to fix you because you're not broken. I'm here to walk beside you, help you carry what feels too heavy, and offer a roadmap through the fog. You already carry the strength to heal. My role is to help you uncover it, trust it, and walk forward with greater ease.
